General Conditions

  • The school does not guarantee specific teachers, classrooms or schedules and reserves the right to make the necessary planning changes, including moving students to a building close by due to logistical reasons.  
  • Travel costs, food and drink, examination fees and entrance charges levied by third parties (museums, cultural activities, excursions, etc.) are not included in the course price. 
  • The minimum number of students in a group is 3. Jaleo Madrid reserves the right to cancel the lessons with less than 3 students. Students can resume lessons when more students are interested in joining the group or their credit can be proportionally transferred to 1to1 lessons.  
  • One class is equivalent to 55 minutes in all our courses. 
  • Intensive lessons have morning and afternoon schedules. Jaleo Madrid places students in the group which most appropriately corresponds to their level. Time slots preferences can be communicated when booking but cannot be guaranteed.  
  • The school establishes a certain number of weeks of class per level. However, this duration is approximate since each group is different, and the progress depends on various factors beyond the control of Jaleo Madrid or the teachers of the group. It is at the school’s discretion to shorten or extend the number of weeks for the level depending on the group’s needs.   
  • In case a level is shortened, Jaleo Madrid won’t issue any refund and will ensure that the necessary content is adequately covered.  
  • In case a level is extended, students will have to purchase the classes consequently if they want to complete the level. 
  • Purchasing a specific number of weeks does not imply an obligation for the student to complete/finish the level. 
  • The school cannot guarantee a specific teacher in a group if requested by a student.  
  • The school cannot guarantee the continuation of the same teacher with the group. 
  • At the end of each level in group lessons, there will be an exam. If the student is attending class that specific week, the test will be mandatory for group members. If someone is absent that week (due to travel, illness, or personal reasons), they may skip the exam and still move to the next level if the teacher considers their level to be adequate and if the student has performed well in continuous assessment. Otherwise, the student will be placed in a lower-level group. 
  • If someone wishes to voluntarily take the exam, there will be a cost of €50, and it will be scheduled with prior arrangement with the school management. The length of the test is 2 hours.  
  • The school reserves the right to modify the group class schedule due to internal logistics. Written notification will be given in advance. 
  • There is no specific number of hours established to complete levels in private lessons as it depends on each person’s progress and commitment.   
  • In the case of intensive or semi-intensive classes in a week with a public holiday, the full payment must be made, and the student will receive a 55-minute private class in compensation > 1 day of intensive = 55min of 1to1 
  • The school does not offer free trial lessons. In the case of a trial lessons, our Student Care team can provide more information about rates. 
  • In the case of part-time classes, public holidays when the school is closed will not affect the class credit, and the student will be able to use the missed class at the end of their package.  
  • Beginner-level courses have specific start dates. It will be necessary to check these dates with Student Services and adhere to them for course enrollment. 

Discounts

  • Discounts cannot be accumulated/combined. 
  • Discounts/ Promotional Offers are only applicable when communicated to Jaleo Madrid prior to enrollment and cannot be applied retrospectively. 
  • Discounts/ Promotional Offers can just be applied on the first purchase and won’t be applied to following courses in case of extension of the classes. 
  • Jaleo Madrid is not responsible for information found on other websites regarding discounts on Spanish classes. The information on our policies on this website takes precedence. 

Student Visa Program

Before starting the visa process, please make sure you understand and meet the necessary requirements in the Spanish Embassy in your country.  

  • The only course eligible for the student visa program is the intensive course. 
  • Classes in the student visa program are always face-to-face.  
  • Online lessons are not allowed under any circumstance and the course cannot be converted into online or private lessons.  
  • Jaleo Madrid requires an upfront payment of 25% in order to issue the enrollment letter.  
  • Some countries required a payment of 100% of the course in advance. Please, make sure you have the information about the requirements beforehand, as the school won’t be responsible if the visa is denied due to incomplete payment. 
  • The remaining 75% of the payment must be made: 1) once the visa has been approved and before the start of classes (for visas processed from the country of origin), or 2) before the course start date specified in the enrollment letter (for visas processed from Spain). 
  • Once JaleoMadrid has received the required upfront payment, the invitation letter will be sent to the student by email. If a physical document is requested by postal mail, the student must pay for these costs in advance. 
  • The school does not offer trial lessons. 
  • One class is equivalent to 55 minutes. 
  • Jaleo Madrid reserves the right not to open a class if it does not have a minimum of 3 students enrolled. The students will have to use their holiday weeks to wait for a new group of their level or attend lessons in a lower-level group. 
  • If the weekly attendance of the student is 80% or below, the school reserves the right to assign the student to another group based on the level test results, teacher recommendation, and the class availability. The schedule may change.  
  • Visa students can take breaks/holidays during their course as part of their package. It is necessary to take a minimum of 1 full week from Monday to Friday. The school cannot guarantee availability in the same group upon return.  
  • Holidays need to be communicated with a written communication by e-mail to info@jaleomadrid.com 7 days in advance. Otherwise, the break will not be considered as part of the holiday entitlement but deducted from the course weeks credit. All other notifications won’t be accepted. 
  • In order to obtain the diploma at the end of the course, students must attend a minimum of 80% of the course, as established by VISA regulation. 
  • For long-term courses, when holidays are included in the course pack, the school reserves the right to require students to use some weeks of these holidays, when the school may be closed.

Visa Denial and Cancelations

  • If the student can’t take the course because their visa has been denied, the total amount of the course will be reimbursed except for administrative expenses (250€), if the cancellation is made at least 15 working days prior to the starting date of the course. To get a refund of the payment, Jaleo Madrid must receive a written communication. 
  • The student must send us the official letter of denial (with date, signature and seal) issued from a Spanish Consulate or Embassy, in which name, passport number and visa requested, as well as the date, are clearly visible.  
  • Cancellations made on the starting date or after the program start date, whether the student has arrived in Spain or not, don’t allow any refund of program fees. 
  • Once the visa support documents (enrollment letter, study plan and full payment receipt) have been sent to the student, the type of the Spanish course and its duration cannot be changed.  
  • The start date can be changed, and new visa support documents will be issued in case of an appeal after a visa rejection and in case of only being able to obtain an appointment at the embassy later than the start date of the course.   
  • In the case of an appeal, no refund for the course will be processed until the appeal’s resolution. 
  • Only one date change is allowed for the enrolment letter. Any additional modification will incur a cost of 25€. 
  • Once the student obtains their student visa, the start and end date of their program cannot be modified. If the student starts attending their classes later than planned, they can use their holiday weeks included in the program to not miss any classes.   
  • No refunds will be issued for courses or parts of courses due to delays, illness, early departure, and/or other circumstances that are not covered by this cancellation policy. 

Cancelations

Intensive and Semi-Intensive Lessons

  • It is not possible to cancel individual days within a week of class. Any absence within the week will not be recovered.  
  • It is possible to cancel full weeks (Monday to Friday) and a written notification (by email to info@jaleomadrid.com) must be sent before Thursday of the week prior to the week that is to be cancelled. Otherwise, the cancelation will not be considered. 
  • After an absence of one or more weeks, the school cannot guarantee a return to the same group.   
  • The minimum number of students in a group is 3. Jaleo Madrid reserves the right to cancel the lessons with less than 3 students. Students can take a break and resume lessons when more students are interested in joining the group. Also, their credit can be proportionally transferred to 1to1 lessons if they want to have lessons. 
  • If the teacher is sick or on holiday, the school will do its best to replace them with another teacher who is available. The students will be notified before the lesson if possible. 
  • If there is not another teacher available, the lesson will be cancelled, and it won’t be counted in the lesson pack. The lesson can be used in the future and no refunds will be issued.   
  • In the event of course cancellation by the school due to organization reasons two weeks before the start date, the credit of the lessons will be proportionally switch to 1to1 lesson. This rule is not applicable to visa payments.  

Lessons Packs

  • In the case of class packages that combine intensive or semi courses with conversation or individual classes, it is not possible to cancel the classes apart from the intensive or semi course. To proceed with the cancellation, it will be necessary to cancel the entire week of classes, including both the intensive or semi courses and the conversation or individual classes. 
  • The rest of the terms are similar to the previous point (see intensive and semi-intensive lessons). 

Part-Time Lessons

  • It is only possible to cancel two lessons per monthly pack (2 out of 8). The rest of the classes that you can’t attend will be counted as normal. 
  • Lessons should be cancelled with a written notification (by email to info@jaleomadrid.com) sent 24 hours before the scheduled class. 
  • If the cancelation is not made before the deadline, the class will be counted as normal. 
  • If the student doesn’t show up for whatever reason, the lessons will be counted as well. 
  • After an absence of two or more weeks, the school cannot guarantee a return to the same group.

Students can take a break and resume lessons when more students are interested in joining the group. Also, their credit can be proportionally transferred to 1to1 lessons if they want to have lessons.    
  • If the teacher is sick or on holiday, the school will do its best to replace them with another teacher who is available. The students will be notified before the lesson if possible. 
  • If there is not another teacher available, the lesson will be cancelled, and it won’t be counted in the lesson pack. The lesson can be used in the future and no refunds will be issued. 

1to1 and 2to1 Lessons

  • It is necessary to use the lesson pack within the following periods:  
    • 5 hours pack: 2 months after purchase 
    • 10 hours pack: 4 months after purchase 
    • 30 hours pack: 9 months after purchase  
  • Lessons should be cancelled with a written notification (by email to info@jaleomadrid.com) sent 24 hours before the start of the scheduled class.  
  • If the cancelation is not made before the deadline, the class will be counted as normal. 
  • If the student doesn’t show up for the first 20 minutes of the lesson and doesn’t give any notice, the teacher will be allowed to leave, and the lesson will be counted. 
  • If there is a request for modification of the day or time of the class for the following week, it is necessary to inform the school before Thursday the previous week to organize the new date/time for the class. No changes of days or time can be guaranteed within the same week of the class.  
  • After a break of two or more weeks, the school cannot guarantee the return to the previous day, time and teacher.  
  • If the school must cancel a lesson, the student will have the following options: 
  • Have their lesson in their normal day and time with another teacher, if the school has another teacher who is available, and the student agrees. 
  • Reschedule the lesson during the same week if it is possible for the teacher and the student. 
  • In the case of 2to1 lessons, both students must agree on the cancelation. If there is just one of them attending the class, the lesson will be charged as if both attended. 
  • In the event of the school being closed exceptionally and for reasons beyond Jaleo Madrid’s control (such as weather conditions or force majeure), the classes will not be counted, and an appropriate solution will be found. This will be communicated to the students as soon as possible. This will be applied to all kind of lessons are courses. 

Refund Policy

  • Cancelations can be made up to two weeks before the scheduled starting date in all our courses (1to1 and group). However, no refunds will be issued for less than 500€. 
  • In the event of a refund, Jaleo Madrid will charge 10% of the total cost of the course as an administrative fee. 
  • No refunds will be issued for any amount once the course has started. 
  • Jaleo Madrid is not responsible for any bank fees or associated costs related to refunds. 
  • Refunds will be processed using the same method as the original payment. 
  • Courses are transferable to third parties and the school must be notified of the transfer of the remaining classes. 

Payment Conditions

  • In order to book a spot in a group more than one month before the scheduled start date, it is necessary to pay at least 40% of the total course fee. The remaining 60% will be paid on the first day of class.  
  • If a student wants to extend their lessons, payment must be made the week prior to the course. Otherwise, the school won’t guarantee spots available in the same group. 
  • Cash payments exceeding 1,000 euros are not accepted. 
  • We do not accept payments with American Express or Discovery.     
  • Payments must be made in euros.

Personal Data Protection

In compliance with the current regulation, we inform students that private data and information will be processed and stored on servers’ property of Jaleo Madrid Idiomas S.COOP.MAD. Your private data will solely be used for the commercial and operative purposes of the company. By accepting these Terms and Conditions, you give your consent for your data to be used for these purposes. You have the right to request information about your rights to access, correct and cancel such information by writing to the address: info@jaleomadrid.com 

Public Holidays

We are a coop founded and run by teachers. As well as our students’ needs, our workers’ needs are very important, and we provide good working conditions for them. For that reason, our school won’t be opened during bank holidays (national and local) and those classes won’t be taught. Please, find the holiday dates below.

Photo Release Form (Optional)

In the given Photo Release Form, Jaleo Madrid Idiomas is granted permission to utilise an individual’s likeness in various media formats, including photographs, videos, and other digital media. The individual explicitly allows Jaleo Madrid Idiomas to use these photos in any of its publications, both print and web-based, without the need for any payment or consideration.

Furthermore, the individual provides Jaleo Madrid Idiomas with irrevocable authorisation to edit, alter, copy, exhibit, publish, or distribute the photos for any lawful purpose, without seeking approval from the individual beforehand. They also renounce any right to royalties or compensation related to the use of these photos.

The individual agrees to hold harmless, release, and forever discharge Jaleo Madrid Idiomas from any claims, demands, or causes of action that may arise due to this authorisation. This release extends to cover the individual’s heirs, representatives, executors, administrators, or anyone else acting on their behalf or their estate.

Additionally, the individual confirms that they have read and understood the terms of the photo release. They assert that they are at least 18 years of age or, if they are under 18 years old, they have obtained the necessary consent from their parents/guardians, which is evidenced by accepting the form below. The individual accepts the terms of the photo release voluntarily and without any coercion.
