But great stories often begin on a Monday. In fact, one of your best stories might start just like this: on a Monday morning, on the Madrid metro, on your way to your first Spanish class at Jaleo Madrid.

You probably arrived the previous weekend and are staying with one of our host families. Even so, it’s normal to feel a little nervous. It’s your first day, a new language, a huge city…

You decide to arrive early—about 30 minutes before the intensive courses begin (from 9:30 to 13:30). As you enter the school, Marina or Silvana greets you with a warm smile that instantly makes you feel at home. They hand you your welcome pack (with a beautiful tote bag, your book, and your notebook), show you the library, the WiFi, and all the useful corners of the school. You even have time to make yourself a coffee before class starts—no rush.

Your teacher arrives—friendly and cheerful. They introduce themselves and the group: there won’t be many of you, because we believe small groups make for more personalized and effective learning. On the whiteboard, you’ll see the goal of the day. It won’t be a grammar structure, but something practical for everyday life: “telling a story,” “ordering at a bar,” “talking about your plans”… From that moment until the break at 11:20, you’ll be speaking only in Spanish.

At 11:20, it’s time for a break. You’ll head to the common area and meet other students from different levels and nationalities. You’ll find fruit, a sweet treat or two, and of course, your second coffee of the morning. It’s the perfect moment to make new friends and practice what you’ve learned.

The second part of the class lets you put into practice everything you’ve worked on earlier. It all makes sense, it’s dynamic, and time flies.

By 13:30, you’re probably getting hungry. You’re not used to Spanish mealtimes yet, so it’s the perfect time to check out one of the restaurants near the school — and use your student discount card for the first time!

If you’ve been brave enough to sign up for the afternoon class as well (at 14:00), you’ll have less time for lunch… but more time to keep learning 😉

There’s still sunshine as your first day at Jaleo Madrid comes to an end. It’s flown by. Maybe you’ll decide to check out that Retiro Park everyone talks about — it’s really close to the school and perfect for a stroll, a bit of reading, or just letting yourself unwind.

And the best part? Tomorrow’s Tuesday, and you already can’t wait to come back.

Mondays tend to have a bad reputation—we get it.
