VISA Program Process

Here are all the necessary steps to receive your VISA, live in Madrid, and study at Jaleo

Explore Our Intensive Spanish Course for Student Visas

Step 1 — Contact us / Informational meeting

Contact us to tell us your plan or if you are unsure about the process. We will help you and send you all the program information via email for you to learn all about the study visa.

Meet with our visa expert for a short video call, she will help you solve any questions you might have about the program. Additionally, we work with a group of lawyers that will help you if needed.

Step 2 — First partial payment

To begin the process, make the first partial payment (25%), and send us a picture of your passport and desired starting date.

Step 3 — The Jaleo enrollment letter

Receive your enrollment letter from us in less than 24h, the only paperwork you will need from Jaleo.

Step 4 — Paperwork submission to embassy

The embassies take 8-12 weeks to reply. Be patient! They may request your passport, no worries, it is to stamp the visa inside so you can come study Spanish at Jaleo Madrid.

Step 5 — Receive approval

We will contact you 2-3 weeks before your starting date, if we do not do so earlier, to see if you have received an update of the VISA status. By then, you should already have an approval and we can continue the process.

Step 6 — Travel to Madrid & final partial payment

Pack your suitcase and travel to Madrid. Before your arrival, or on the very first day of class, make the second and final partial payment (75%) of your program.

Step 7 — Enjoy your lessons and new life in Madrid

You are ready to start your lessons and discover a new life in Madrid!

Step 8 (for +6-month students) — TIE Card

For the programs of 6 or more months, you must register your address and fingerprints for your TIE card. We can help you with this within the first month of your stay.

We are a Spanish school accredited by the Institute Cervantes, so we are authorized to issue enrollments letters for those students who need to receive a visa, which are recognized as official proof of study by Spanish consulates and embassies. We will provide you with all the necessary assistance and information.

What is covered in the course for International Students on a Visa?

Our course, which includes 20 classes per week, is recognized for student VISA applications. The type of VISA you need depends on the length of your studies. At Jaleo Madrid, we provide holiday weeks in line with your VISA, giving you the opportunity to travel during your Spanish course.

To secure your enrollment letter, a 25% payment of your program’s total cost is required, some countries may mandate full payment. Check with the Spanish Embassy or Consulate in your country to ensure you meet all necessary requirements.

If your VISA is denied, we will refund the total amount, minus a €250 administration fee, provided you present the official denial letter from Spanish authorities at least 10 working days before your course starts. Please review our terms and conditions for further details.

We recommend enrolling 2 to 3 months in advance, as the visa application process can take around 2 months, depending on the consulate and the season. Additionally, our course is valid if you need to renew your NIE (foreigner identity number).

Visa requirements and refund policy for EU and Non-EU students

EU/Swiss Citizens: Citizens of the European Union and Switzerland do not need a VISA to enter Spain. However, if you plan to stay for more than three months, you are required to apply for a NIE (foreigner identity number). For further details, you can find more information here.

Non-EU/Swiss Citizens: For individuals from outside the European Union and Switzerland, the process of obtaining a student VISA in Spain can be challenging and varies depending on your country of origin and the duration of your stay.

Most nationalities do not need a VISA to study in Spain for less than 90 days unless your country requires a visa for normal entry into Spain. To determine if you need a visa for a stay of up to three months, you can check here.

If you plan to study for more than three months, a VISA is required, and the application process must begin in your home country. Consult with the Spanish embassy to ensure you have the most accurate and up-to-date information. Visa requirements can differ significantly between countries, so it is essential to verify the specifics directly with the authorities.

Visa denial and cancellations:

If your visa application is denied, we offer a refund of all payments made, minus a €250 administration fee, provided the cancellation request is submitted at least 10 working days before the course start date. To qualify for a refund, you must send a written notification to Jaleo Madrid.

Refunds will only be processed upon receipt of an official rejection letter from the Spanish Consulate or Embassy, which must clearly show your name, passport number, and the type of visa or renewal requested, along with the necessary dates, signatures, and stamps. If the cancellation does not meet these conditions, regardless of whether you have already arrived in Spain or not, the school will not issue any refund of program fees.
